Coral Sea, Australia: Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is a series of coral reefs and islands in the Coral Ocean, stretching along the north-eastern coast of Australia for 2300 km. In the north, its width reaches 2 km, in the south – 150 km. Most of the reefs are in front of the water (which are found during tides) In 1979, the Sea National Grove was established here, covering an area of more than 5 million hectares. Yes.
The history of the Great Barrier Reef stretches back almost 18 million years. The current chronicle of its development lasts almost 8,000 years. For the worn-out foundation, however, new layers seem consistent with the past. The main portion of the reef is surrounded by more than 2,100 single reefs, which are surrounded by approximately 540 barriers that civilize the coastal islands.
Between the reef and the coast there is a lagoon. This place of cliffs rarely overcomes the abyss of 100 m. From the land of the sea, the slopes of the reef fall strictly for thousands of meters into the depths of the sea. The obstacle in this space is subject to the charm of waves and winds. The size of corals is then very fast, as if in places where the wool and temperature reach extreme heights, the reefs lose most of the building material. A large part of the independent material is woven into the reefs and civilizes the new-fashioned stones, so that for the reef the same, replacing the brother of the friend processes of destruction and the next revival.
Due to the diversity and colorfulness of the underwater circle for the country of the Reef, as well as the almost constantly warm clear sea water, this area is impossible to be famous among travelers who are predominantly enthusiastic about diving. For this reason, large islands around the Great Barrier Reef have become luxurious tourist resorts.
