Australia

Australia is the smallest continent on our planet. Its land area is only five percent, the mainland itself is in the Southern Hemisphere of the planet.
Australia is washed on three sides by one Indian Ocean and two seas to the east: Tasmanian and Coral.
The first to visit and discover these lands were sailors from Holland, based on which the continent was originally called “New Holland”. Only later a sailor from England, having circumvented the mainland, proposed the name – Terra Australis. But his request was not approved. Much later, the governor of one of the states called the mainland Australia, and at his request the British colonial ministers officially confirmed the name in documents.
Australia and Oceania – the mysterious land of the south
The capital of Australia is considered the city of Canberra. Its origin is very interesting because it was created by an unnatural method. The capital was placed symmetrically from Sydney and Melbourne to end and resolve the dispute between these cities, which infringed on the status of the capital. The planning turned out to be very successful, and thanks to the highlights of the landscape, the new capital became an exemplary indicator of a new direction in the field of architecture and construction. The population of the capital is three hundred and eighty thousand people, which allows you to tour the city in one day.

Australia has the largest coral reef in the world. In fact, this continent is one state whose official name is the Australian Alliance. The plain covers 90% of the entire continent’s land area above sea level, but there are also mountains, the height of which reaches a value of 1,500 kilometers.

The Australian Alps are the highest mountains on the continent. The continent is poor in the presence of rivers, one of the longest is the Murray River. The rivers are replenished with water due to rain in June, and later they can dry out or metabolize, transforming into ditches, the bottom of which is settled with salt. On the mainland there are three climatic zones, which are characterized by differences in air temperature, humidity and dryness of the climate.

Australian flora and fauna
Since the mainland is at a great distance from other continents, its natural and animal world is very wide and diverse. It is inhabited in a single specimen of very rare animals, absent on other continents. But it should be emphasized that the animals on the continent are not quite so many, most of the inhabitants are different species of birds. Grain crops, grape growing, and some fruits and vegetables are widespread in Australia. Here is a very unusual world of fauna and flora.
